Hyundai is no stranger to success, but in 2015, Hyundai won no less than five GOOD DESIGN awards. The manufacturer has consistently and successfully applied its design philosophy car after car.
Hyundai Motors’ GOOD DESIGN awards in 2015 were for the Elantra, Tucson, IONIQ, Santa Cruz concept and the ‘Sculpture in Motion’ art installation. One would be hard pressed to find another car company that is as passionate about good design as Hyundai Motors is.
Both Traditional Powertrains and Alternative Vehicles Recognized
Whether it be traditional vehicles or new and eco-friendly ‘green machines’, Hyundai Motors is firmly in the lead when it comes to artistic design. Concepts have also been recognized, and upon receiving the award Byung-Seob Lee, the Senior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center commented on the ambitious feats Hyundai has accomplished with its cutting-edge concept car models over the past year.
What A GOOD DESIGN Award Means
The GOOD DESIGN award is the most prestigious design award recognized in the industry today. The rewards program was developed by The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design. Only companies with the most ambitious ideas and plans receive such awards.
The GOOD DESIGN award that Hyundai Motors received is considered the oldest and most distinguished award worldwide. The panel of judges met in November 2015 in New York to select and discuss their favorite designs and projects. The group of judges was made up of design professionals, architects and cultural leaders.
The boldness of Hyundai’s design strategies and artistic approaches caused judge panelists into awarding the manufacturer not just once, but five times!
The Iconic IONIQ
The advanced Hyundai Motor alternative fuel IONIQ was recognized as one of the most svelte design ideas in vehicular history by the panelists. Everything from the aesthetics of the car to the Visual Aero design concept the car brings to the table screams innovation. Fuel efficient and functional, the IONIQ is a new breed of car. The futuristic design of the IONIQ and all of its impressive innovation will be premiering on January 14, 2016 in Seoul, Korea.
The 2016 Tucson is Big, Strong and Sexy
The Tucson SUV from Hyundai was another vehicle that received a prestigious award. The 2016 Tucson is larger, with better interior space than other SUVs on the market. LED projector lights and a strong front end are some of the reasons the Tucson is an award winning SUV. From the rear, the Tucson looks both sporty and rugged, a first-class larger vehicle for those seeking stability and reliability in a beautiful car.
The Elantra Shows the Future of Compact Cars
The new Elantra was not forgotten by the GOOD DESIGN award. The newest version of the Elantra offers a glimpse into the future of one of Hyundai’s most popular compact vehicles. Built on Hyundai’s Dynamic Precision design concept, the Elantra has both an athletic exterior and a comfortable interior. The best of both worlds are available in this car for any new or seasoned car enthusiast.
Space Abound in the Santa Cruz Concept
The Santa Cruz model that was introduced in 2015 at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit attracted the crowds with its stellar looks and excellent maneuverability of the large vehicle. The spacious cargo room is easily accessed with a new tailgate extension that can extend the bed length. The reverse-opening doors allow for comfortable maneuvering of items being transferred from car to destination. The strong exterior design and comfortable interior will excite anyone looking for good design in automobiles.
Innovation That Always Delivers
Hyundai Motor’s design philosophy was celebrated through the Sculpture in Motion project, an art installation that highlighted the relationship between automobiles, the living world and motion.
Bold and ambitious, Hyundai certainly has many more awards coming in the future. Winning five separate GOOD DESIGN awards in one year – now that’s a feat! Hyundai proves to car enthusiasts that not only are they a brand one can stand behind when reliability is at stake, but valued design is a virtue Hyundai will never be giving up.
